To prepare and develop tomorrow’s leaders, the Resort Industry Student Experience (RISE) internship program provides the structure and resources to harness, teach, and grow talented students into successful career professionals through an immersive, holistic, and dynamic learning experience in the hospitality industry.

 All internships will consist of hands on work, observations, special projects, leadership development, training, feedback and evaluations. Students will have the opportunity to form connections with both their peers and industry leaders who are in roles in both their own department and others.

 Internships are approximately three months long with the potential opportunity for a second internship, full or part time employment, however placement is not guaranteed. 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

As part of a growing team you will be responsible for researching reviewing, drafting, editing, fact checking, and formatting a variety of documents according to certain requirements and sharing your expertise.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS:  

 

1.     Participate in meetings, trainings, and networking events with the Academy of Learning and Development–approximately once per week including a final project to be presented to leadership at the end of the internship. 

2.      Work with the Construction, Design and Procurement teams and other stakeholders to gather data and research best practices for creation of Standard Operating Procedure Manuals.

3.     Develop and maintain documentation hierarchy, content standards, formatting standards, and project management templates. Improve document usability through content structure formatting and proofreading.

4.     Participate in team meetings and observe current project management processes in action to ensure the implementation is aligned with the documentation. Ensure all standard operating procedures align with high level workflows.

 



 

Job Requirements

  • Recent graduate or student pursing a degree in Technical Writing, Industrial Engineering, Communications, Business Management, or other relevant area of study
  • Experience working in hospitality, food & beverage, hotel operations or related area is a plus
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to do research, gather content and organize information
  • Proficiency in prioritizing and organizing assignments
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work with internal team members while maintaining a self-directed approach to ongoing projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
  • Strong interpersonal skills, work ethic, and professional demeanor
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service
  • Able to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in the workplace
  • Ability to collaborate with a diverse population
  • Able to demonstrate a positive attitude
  • Effectively communicate in English – bilingual is a plus
  • Knowledge of the Construction, Interior Design, and Procurement process is a plus
  • Ability to extract data, analysis, repackage and represent
  • Self-starter with good analytical skills capable of working independently
  • Must be advanced  with Microsoft Word, Publisher, Power Point, Visio, Smartsheet and Adobe Suites

 

 



QUALIFICATIONS

  • Enrolled in college/university courses within 6 months of the start of the internship (recent graduates may apply)
  • Preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher and be in current good standing with the college/university
  • Must not be first two semesters taking college coursework
  • Must be able to secure housing in the location of the internship for the duration of the internship
  • Must be able to pass and complete a background check
  • Must be able to complete entire program without interruptions

 

International Students   

To be eligible, you must be currently enrolled in a college/university in the United States and possess unrestricted US work authorization. Typically, this means international students must be studying on an F-1 or J-1 visa.
