POSITION DESCRIPTION: 

Directs efforts culminating with the monthly closing of the general ledger, including review and analysis of monthly results up to and including closing adjustments.  Reviews and monitors General Ledger account reconciliations on a monthly basis associated with the HOA accounting area.  Position conducts monthly financial reviews with operational leaders.  Provides audit schedules and work papers to enable outside auditors to assess the year end results.  Participates in the annual budgeting process and prepares input based on key operating indicators provided.  Provides input on key change initiatives in accounting and financial reporting aimed at providing the HOA with better service in the most cost effective manner.  Identifies trends and recommends improvements accordingly, including recommendations regarding cost savings.   Recruit, mentor, and develop a cohesive Accounting staff that can proactively meet the needs of the HOA operations.

This position will be responsible for collaborating with various accounting departments to formalize monthly financial review procedures, reconciliation procedures, internal controls, and assist with various filing/reporting deadlines.

 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS:  

  • Prepare, review and oversee monthly reconciliations, perform research and/or assists other team members on researching complex ledger accounts to minimize risk and protect company assets and document the findings for management.

  • Create and record complex journal entries in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and with respective supporting documentation with an understanding of the financial statement impact.

  • Provide guidance to other team members including coaching, mentoring, and possible supervision.

  • Perform comprehensive research and analysis. Use financial & accounting acumen to analyze and interpret data and make recommendations on accounting treatment of various business transactions.

  • Development, implement and ensure compliance with the company’s policies and procedures.  Establish “Best Practices” and formulate/document solutions as it relates to creating efficiencies.

  • Special projects and ad-hoc reporting as required. (i.e. Assisting in annual budgeting process, provide adequate support to external auditors, assist tax team)

 

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related business area required. 
  • Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience.
  • Timeshare / Hospitality industry experience a plus
  • Public Accounting experience a plus


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • CPA license or CPA candidate preferred.

 



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Will have direct reports assigned. Position entails overseeing the work product of others, assigning projects and priorities, responding to questions and coaching, and evaluating performance.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficient in Excel at an intermediate level.
  • Must have hands on management style to work closely with staff members and leaders on day to day activity as well as high level projects and analysis/budgets
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision, be detail-orientated and have the ability to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines. 
  • Must be able to communicate effectively (written and oral).
  • Ability to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to establish productive relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Be a team player with a positive attitude.
  • Experience with Dynamics AX is a plus
  • Experience with Blackline is a plus
