POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The purpose of this position is to provide specialized real estate acquisition and development paralegal support for growing vacation ownership company. Paralegal responsibilities include assisting in all aspects of acquisitions from letter of intent to closing. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to preparing critical dates for contracts and administering the same, ordering and/or preparing title commitments and issuing policies, reviewing and summarizing title work, preparing closing documents, and assisting in acquisition and loan transactions due diligence and closing. General administrative support for VP of Acquisitions also required.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS:

  • Purchase and sale agreement review and critical dates summary.
  • Ability to prepare title commitments and issue policies.
  • Ability to review and summarize complex title documents.
  • Capable of generating specialized correspondence, articles, memos, agendas, or other legal materials.
  • Prepares drafts of various legal documents, including closing documents, e.g., deeds, affidavits, closing statements and resolutions.
  • Serve as a Notary Public or witness on various real estate documents as necessary.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements



EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• High school graduation or other equivalent (i.e., GED, college, technical, or trade school transcript, foreign equivalency, etc.),

• two (2) years’ experience as a real estate paralegal in a law firm or in-house legal department, plus at least one (1) of the following:

  1. Completion of an American Bar Association (ABA) approved program of education and training for legal assistants; or,
  2. An associates degree in Legal Assistance from an accredited college or university or completion of an institutionally accredited legal assistant’s; or,
  3. Certification by the National Association of Legal Assistants.

 



CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Paralegal certificate preferred, but not required.
     


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Superior analytic and writing skills.
  • Strong verbal communications skills.
  • Strong word processing skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Word skills, including familiarity with the use of macros.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously while making continued progress on each.
