POSITION OVERVIEW:

This position will be responsible for the oversight for maintaining the resort grounds, management of all horticulture, assorted beautification projects, and management of the grounds team. The position will liaise with departments from irrigation, resort operations, sales, facilities, engineering, activities, support services, and retail Managers. The position will assist in developing long term strategies for effective horticultural maintenance, as well as execute tactical plans and daily tasks to that end. Has direct oversight of third party vendors.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS:

  • Participates in landscape design, planning, construction and reconstruction at the resort. Directs, manages and supervises the resort grounds maintenance operation.

  • Oversees third party vendors to ensure their work is satisfactorily performed in accordance with all terms of any and all agreements and contracts.

  • Participates in the preparation of the annual budgets (Property Management and Master Restriction) for the maintenance and capital improvements of the resort grounds and landscaping. Participates in the long term planning and budgeting for the Property Management and Master Restriction.

  • Communicates regularly with other members of the resort operations management team to discuss / review activities, goals, plans and owner/guest comments and input.

  • Ensures administrative functions to include payroll, invoices and human resource activities are completed / submitted in a timely manner.


     

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management or related field and a minimum of five years’ experience in grounds maintenance or any combination of education and experience sufficient to perform duties of the position.

  • Requires knowledge of current federal, state and local laws and regulations affecting the management of grounds operations (including, but not limited to employment,
  • 2 years in a leadership role preferred

  • Must be 21 years of age or older, have 4 years of driving experience and a valid drivers license
  • Knowledge of the characteristics, growth habits and proper cultivation of a wide selection of flowering bulbs, annuals, biennials and perennial plant materials, including both herbaceous and woody plants.
  • Knowledge of the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers, soil conditioners and pest control methods and materials.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • High degree of judgment
  • Bilingual a plus – English/Spanish
  • Ability to operate all grounds machinery
  • Comprehensive knowledge 
  • Ability to motivate, engage and lead employees
