POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Fitness & Activities Manager is responsible for the day to day operations of the fitness center and resort activities department. He/she oversees both departments and leads the staff to provide a sustainable level of excellence in character, customer service and execution of job duties.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS:

  • Manages the group exercise and personal training teams (including: hiring, firing, payroll and performance management issues)
  • Hosts events and activities for center members and hotel guests (i.e. Flick & Float, Moonlight Hike & Yoga, First Friday CommUnity events, Big Foot Snowshoe, etc.)
  • Coordinates and organizes events with local businesses, involving members and hotel guests
  • Trains new employees and provides ongoing training for all group exercise, front desk and personal training staff
  • Coordinates the group exercise schedule and instructors
  • Establishes, monitors and analyzes the group exercise and personal training budgets
  • Responsible for partnering with Brand Services on all marketing for the fitness center and special events
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures for the department
  • Conducts departmental meetings
  • Acts as contact person for members regarding all fitness center, group exercise and personal training matters
  • Supervises any specialized fitness program in the department
  • Evaluates program effectiveness and success based on revenues, participation, satisfaction and further interest
  • Responsible for zone management duties which include reporting any facility, janitorial, or capital improvement needs for assigned area
  • Works with local businesses and organizations to enhance relationships between fitness center, resort, and the surrounding businesses and communities

 

Job Requirements

  • Experience in a health club or the hospitability industry is preferred
  • College degree preferred
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications (must be obtained within 60 days of hire)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Strong Communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experienced in team building and motivating large audiences
  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time

  • Working outside in the weather
