The Certified Maintenance Apprentice is an entry level role within the resort facilities operations function. Candidates for this role demonstrate a desire to learn and apply technical trade skills in the service field with no previous experience required.  The apprentice will engage in a six-week training program in the Orlando, Florida training center.  Training includes academic study and hands-on learning of essential skills in customer care, workplace safety, plumbing, carpentry, painting & finishes, appliance troubleshooting and basic repairs, care of landscapes and hardscapes and amenities, and other related residential and commercial facility repair and maintenance methodology.  The apprentice then returns to their home resort and continues to train on-the-job under supervisory mentorship to develop proficiency and independence.  This apprenticeship spans 4-8 months, with successful candidates graduating to the role of Certified Maintenance Technician (previously GMT II).


Job Requirements


  •  High school diploma or GED


  • Must read, write and speak English fluently
  • Must be at least 18 years of age, have a valid driver’s license, and have had their driver’s license for at least one year
  • May not have more than one at-fault accident within last three (3) years, and
  • May not have more than one (1) Type A violations in the last three (3) years; (which include, but are not limited to, DWI, DUI, refusing a substance test, driving with an open container of alcohol, reckless driving, hit and run, fleeing a police officer, racing, driving while license is revoked or suspended, manslaughter or any felony)
  • May not have more than two (2) Type B moving violations in the last three (3) years; (includes most driving violations such as speeding, improper lane change, failure to yield or obey a traffic signal or sign, license suspension or at fault accidents.
  • Must be able to attend a six-week training program in the Orlando, Florida training center



  • While performing the duties of this job the team member will be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time and will be required to bend, twist, reach, push, pull, operate hand tools (may include operating industrial machinery), and motor vehicles.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
