POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This position will be responsible for the General Maintenance Technician performs service and repairs in the areas of carpentry, plumbing, finish work and painting, minor electrical, and appliance servicing. Candidate must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a broad range maintenance fields. The person is knowledgeable in the procedures and safety measures associated with industry and company standards. The role requires at least 6 months to 1 year of experience in the field or in a related area. Must be able to inspect, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve maintenance defects and concerns to prescribed standards. Must have strong problem-solving and demonstrate excellent face to face communication skills. The individual will report to the building manager. Must be able to follow verbal and written instruction and complete documentation associated with facility maintenance.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1. Performs inspections, service and repair duties in the areas of carpentry, plumbing, finish work and painting, minor electrical, and appliance servicing; while maintaining a clean and organized work environment. 80%

2. Maintain service and repair documentation associated with facility maintenance. 10%


3. Respond in a courteous and timely manner to all service requests—referring to management as needed. 5%


4. Perform any other maintenance work required by the Building Manager and/or Director. 5%

Job Requirements



EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent in work experience or vocational training
  • At least six months to 1 year of building experience or construction
  • Maintenance experience in an office building preferred
  • Bilingual a plus


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license
     


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have the ability to perform skilled work in general maintenance
  • Must have proficient skills in painting, tile, plumbing, carpentry and minor electric
  • Must have knowledge of hand tools and a mechanical aptitude
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions and complete documentation associated with facility maintenance 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job the employee may be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time.  Will be required to bend, twist, reach, push, pull, and operate hand tools (may include operating industrial machinery).  Must be able to lift between thirty to fifty pounds.  Must be able to climb a 24’ foot ladder and work at this height. WORKING CONDITIONS:

The majority of work will be performed in a climate-controlled environment, but may be exposed to inclement weather and varying degrees of temperature on occasion. Will be exposed to various industrial chemicals, cleaning agents, etc. Will be exposed to strong odors, and loud noise levels.



WORK SCHEDULE/HOURS:

Schedules will vary depending on business needs, and may entail working nights, weekends and holidays.  Must be flexible to work outside of departmental operating hours.
