POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Director of Research will set the tone for inspiring excellence and innovation across the entire organization by conducting consumer research and analysis, pairing it with internal measurement and data disciplines, to determine the best strategies and programs that will drive growth and guest love for our brand. S/he must have a strong technical background, exemplary leadership skills and the experience and ability to work cross functionally. This leader will drive collaboration and customer obsession across the company by informing all decisions with customer data that is rich in insights and identifies opportunities to differentiate and deliver our brand mission of being the most loved brand in travel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS:                     

  •  Provide operational and innovative expertise to internal stakeholders
  • Gathers relevant proprietary and third-party research and maintains the organization informed and at the forefront of trends and opportunities.
  • Build out a research agenda to support all executive stakeholders with original research, quality improvement studies and analysis of end-to-end guest-touch point processes to identify best practices, fuel innovation, and drive guest and team engagement to achieve company growth goals.
  • Serve as resource and subject matter expert for stakeholder meetings to explain the impact and value of strategic initiatives and products.
  • Develop a social listening program that differentiates the brand and minimizes brand reputation risks.
  • Serve as a “thought leader” and ambassador of excellence
  • Coaching and building team capabilities to be a strong team of “futurists”; independent thinkers that can see beyond the day to day
  • Creating the conditions for people to succeed through data driven insights and strong servant leadership.

  • Ensuring technical innovation is developed and new products with points of differentiation are delivered to support company values, creativity and innovation across our product portfolio and business units.

Job Requirements

  • Relevant 4-year degree from an accredited College or University.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in Customer Research, Data Science, Marketing Analysis, or related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of proven progressive experience in innovation-driven organizations
  • Minimum 4 years of proven team management and leadership experience.


 QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS:

  • Familiar with most advanced research methods, research suppliers, and relevant technology tools.
  • Ability to deliver persuasive presentations that balance data and storytelling both written and orally.
  • Demonstrated budget generation and management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to create an innovative vision and lead/develop a team to deliver on this vision.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence partners and senior leaders by building strong relationships, establishing trust and continually following through on commitments.
  • Demonstrated passion for developing team members and taking personal ownership for team engagement and succession planning.
  • Must possess strong analytical, strategic, project management, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven knowledge of market research techniques, especially cost-effective digital strategies.
  • Proven ability to lead a large team of capable leaders, aligning the team around a clear and achievable vision while anticipating quickly shifting market and business landscapes.
  • Proven ability to effectively prioritize and drive large quantities of work to a successful resolution
  • Strong ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong ability to pull data and tell stories from the insights that drive action and change.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required
